Once they understand those foundational skills, your students will learn how to design parts, assemblies, and drawings in xDesign. It’s just good, but not great for its price.īut when choosing a software you need to look at what your using it for specifically. It’s UI is really user friendly, and it’s fairly easy to use with all things considered. The thing that SW has going for it is that everybody uses it, so it has a huge community compared to anything else. NX I would also consider better, but again much higher price tag because it can do more. Catia, which is also made by Dassault Systems, is better than SW, but comes with a lot higher price tag. Each software has its strengths and weaknesses. It’s good at everything, but there really isn’t anything that’s it’s better at than any others. It’s for it’s price tag probably the best value 3D CAD software. I would call SW the jack of all trades, master of none. There may be some benefit to this cloud platform but I really only noticed the ways in which it was worse. (Educational license may be watermarked and identifiable but you can open those files with a professional Solidworks licensed version.)
